Update on Development for a Women's Ministries Major at Liberty University

As most of you already know, we went before the Faculty Senate at Liberty University yesterday with a proposal for a Women's Ministries Major to launch in the Fall 2007. The objective of the program is to train women to minister to other women in the church or professional Christian women's ministries such as: evangelistic organizations, mission agencies, teen retreat centers, pregnancy centers, women shelters, women's conference ministries and organizations such as Concerned Women for America. Many of you have been praying with me on this recent development. Yesterday the women's ministry major DID NOT pass. Part of me feels like Susan B. Anthony as she continued to go before Congress to give women the right to vote. Hopefully, I will still be alive to see this major come through, unlike Susan B. Anthony who was already deceased before the Bill passed in the US Senate in 1920. The situation yesterday was over a legal matter. Is it legal to say "For Women Only?" We are going to find out for sure and then take it before the Senate again on December 7. It is possible for us to have a major for the fall 2007 and according to Dr. Towns, "There is no need to worry." God's timing is perfect. It's really a good thing that this has come to the surface now, so we can make sure everything is of the highest tier regarding our program for women. This also keeps us all in prayer and dependent on God! Let's continue to pray...next big meeting...December 7, 2006 at 3:20!

Teen Retreat, Concord, NC

I had the privilege of traveling to Concord, NC and sharing at a Teen Retreat at West Cabarrus Church. My brother is the Youth Pastor there! Seven amazing girls from LU traveled with me...we had a blast and the Lord did an incredible work!

A Call to Modesty

I've been overwhelmed this week with the way women are displaying themselves on television and the magazines. It makes me literally hurt inside when I see a woman who is trying so hard to be what she sees on TV and the magazines. Well, it doesn't take that much effort, does it? And the attention you get when you reveal all you have on the outside to any one who will look...and the guys do look. We are only seen as mere "objects" of someone's fascination when we offer ourselves to strangers by the way we walk, talk and the things we wear...and then we get upset when they don't see us for who we are "inside." It's as if we yearn for someone to see us...the real us but all we know to give is the part we know they will like.

This is a call to be a different kind of woman...let others see you for who you are on the inside not your Size B Breasts in which you make into a Double D by a different Bra, or your pannie lines you can see through your tight, white pants. You and I were created to be more than that! Beauty is going to fade...but the inward person will remain. I don't know about you but I want to be mysterious...my word, guys don't even have to use their imagination any more...well, their going to have to use it for me...because I am deciding with God's strength to respond to Paul's exhortation in First Timothy 2. There is a time and place for everything too...wait for marriage before revealing the lingerie!

DREAM BIG

I am reading a book now entitled, "Teacher," by Marcus Brotherton. The book is the story of a woman named Henrietta Mears who was called to move to Hollywood, California to teach a Sunday School class in 1928. She started teaching a class of 450 people which, in a matter of a few years, reached over 6,000! What I love most of what I have read thus far is when she declared the following: "There is no magic in small plans. When I consider my ministry, I think of the world. Anything less than that would not be worthy of Christ nor of His will for my life." WOW!!!!!!!!! Is that not TRUE??? Let's dream big, by giving Him EVERYTHING!

Update on Women's Ministry MAJOR

The women's ministry major was passed by the Faculty Senate Curriculum meeting this past Thursday! Now, the next meeting will be the actual FACULTY SENATE. A motion will be made to pass the First Draft of the proposal on Thursday, October 26 at 3:20. This is an important day...so please continue to pray. I am praying for God's favor! Thank you for being a part of this new development!

Movie Recommendation: Love's Abiding Joy

Last night I had the opportunity to preview a soon-to-be released movie entitled, "Love's Abiding Joy." Michael Landon Jr. directed this Western, Christian movie based on Janette Oak's bestselling novel. This film is 4th in a series and is based on Christian values and principles. It is one of many movies being released by Fox. You can find out more about the new direction Fox is taking in their productions at www.foxfaith.com. This movie premieres in October and is rated PG. The story is gripping, thought-provoking and moving. I loved it!!! It will be on my list for this Christmas!!!
